Biography

Fabricio Andrey, widely known as “Hokage,” is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt from Manaus, Brazil, and one of the most explosive featherweight competitors of his generation. He is recognized for his aggressive, submission-oriented style and dynamic wrestling-based exchanges.

Andrey began his martial arts journey in Capoeira under his father before transitioning to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at age 13 through Melqui Galvão’s social project, Projeto Nandinho. A lifelong fan of the anime Naruto, he adopted the nickname “Hokage” as a personal symbol of perseverance and later rose to prominence through the Dream Art Project and Fight Sports.

After receiving his black belt in 2020, Andrey quickly established himself as an elite gi competitor, winning the IBJJF World Championship in 2021, the Brazilian Nationals in 2022, and the IBJJF European Championship in 2023. He has also competed successfully in major no-gi events such as AIGA and WNO, and is a multiple-time champion of the South American ADCC Trials, representing Brazil at the ADCC World Championships. In August 2023, he severed ties with longtime coach Melqui Galvão in a public split, leaving alongside his wife Brenda Larissa and teammate Luiz Paulo.

Known for his wrestling-first approach, Andrey uses heavy snaps and explosive takedowns to force scrambles and impose a fast-paced top game. His most dangerous finishes include the triangle choke and rear naked choke.
