Sebastian Attard

Biography

Sebastian Attard is an Australian professional grappler and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. He is known for utilizing his physical attributes while combining them with a systematic jiu-jitsu style that is effective from both top and bottom.

Attard previously trained as part of the New Wave Jiu-Jitsu team in Austin, Texas before the team rebranded. His career includes appearances at elite professional events such as WNO and PGF, where he has consistently competed against top-level opposition.

His technical style emphasizes strong body lock passing and an aggressive guard built around wrestle-ups and leg locks. Training daily alongside world-class competitors such as Nicholas Meregali and Giancarlo Bodoni, Attard has developed a structured and highly effective submission game built around modern grappling systems. In 2025, he suffered a serious injury while training with Oliver Taza, breaking his leg and entering a prolonged recovery period.

Outside of competition, Attard has built a large following on Instagram through humorous training content and match commentary. He also drew significant attention after receiving a one-year IBJJF ban following an on-stage gesture at the IBJJF No-Gi Worlds.
