Biography

Mayssa Bastos is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and one of the most dominant competitors in modern no-gi grappling. Known for her flawless technique, precision movement, and highly developed guard retention, Bastos has become one of the most successful female no-gi athletes of her generation, winning major titles against the best in the world while rarely being scored on. Her efficiency and consistency have made her a technical benchmark in no-gi competition.

Although Bastos first built her reputation through her elite gi accomplishments, her transition into no-gi saw her rapidly establish herself as a standout. She became a multiple-time IBJJF No-Gi Worlds Champion, a No-Gi Pans Champion, and a major force in professional events. Her no-gi style centers around tight guard work, exceptional back-taking sequences, sharp leg pummeling, and the ability to control and finish opponents with precision rather than strength.
